Intercultural communication

Professional contacts with persons from another culture can be problematic for a variety of reasons, such as linguistic problems, complications due to an interpreter’s behavior, fear of being misunderstood, assumed differences in values and beliefs. One’s own ignorance of local customs and uncertainty about own intercultural competence and conversational fluency appear to play a crucial role. To improve intercultural communication ICCN has developed the following training modules.

At present the modules are tailor made for:

  • the board of directors of a parent company and its foreign subsidiaries
  • the military deployed in peacekeeping operations
  • police officers working multicultural settings
  • immigration officers
  • judges and lawyers in court
  • aidworkers (doctors, nurses, therapists)
